Introduction

DCJ 500 is the highest degree offered in Christian Journalism, awarded upon the completion of a comprehensive study. This program is designed to emphasize the significance of Christian perspectives in media and features advanced coursework, building on foundational concepts from master's-level studies. Students must complete a dissertation to earn this degree.

Course Description

This graduate program provides an in-depth study of scripture and practical insights for church leadership. It combines theoretical concepts with real-world applications to help advance the Kingdom of God.

Goals and Objectives

This course aims to equip students with the advanced skills necessary for ministry leadership and Christian Journalism. By completing this program, students will:

  • Understand Christian attitudes, behaviors, and motives.

  • Gain the ability to translate theoretical frameworks into practical applications.

Core Course Policies

  • Attendance: Students must attend and participate in online discussions. Missing a session may result in a half-letter grade deduction (50 points).
  • Assignments: All work must be typed, double-spaced (12-pt Times New Roman), and include a cover page in APA format. Work submitted after the automatic 48-hour extension will not be graded.
  • Behavior: Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the course.
  • Academic Integrity: Acts of cheating or plagiarism will result in penalties ranging from zero credit for an assignment to course failure.

Assignments and Grading

  1. Discussion Questions (30% of grade)
  • Weekly blog and discussion board entries related to the class session.
  • Due weekly on Tuesday by 9 PM. Late work is not accepted.
  • Please submit your responses and email them to interfaithu.help@gmail.com.
  1. Course Development (20% of grade)
  • Design a future course syllabus with two major assignments and one detailed weekly lesson.
  • Include lecture materials, activities, and exam questions (10 multiple choice and at least 4 open-ended).
  • Provide a comprehensive reference page listing all consulted materials.
  1. Blog Participation (20% of grade)
  • Minimum of 5 blog entries throughout the module, due weekly. Final post is due by March 10 or October 10, based on graduation dates.
  1. Final Paper (30% of grade)
  • A 13-15 page, double-spaced synthesis paper outlining your philosophy of ministry.
  • Must include at least 8 course readings and incorporate outside research for top grades.
  • Due 30 days prior to graduation.

Policies Summary

  • Extra Credit: Not offered.
  • Extensions: Automatic 48-hour extension for assignments (except weekly discussions). Late work beyond the extension will not be accepted.
  • Incomplete Grades: Granted only if 75% of coursework is completed with a valid excuse (e.g., medical reasons).

This course encourages reflective learning while building practical skills for ministry and journalism. Ensure all assignments are submitted on time and in the required format.
