Course Description

This graduate-level ministry course offers a concise study of the Holy Scriptures and explores both the theory and practice of church leadership, as well as ways to advance the Kingdom of God.

Course Goals and Objectives

The course is designed to equip ministers and leaders with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel. It addresses a mix of practical and theoretical challenges faced by church leaders. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Understand Christian attitudes, motives, and behaviors.
  • Improve teaching techniques, including clarity and communication style.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge to real-life ministry contexts.
  • Reflect on their own identity as a minister.
  • Adopt effective teaching approaches.

Course Policies

Class Attendance and Participation

Participation and attendance are mandatory. To succeed, complete readings in advance and contribute to discussions. Missed classes cannot be fully made up, and a half-letter grade deduction (50 points) may apply for each session missed. Classes may use a webinar format.

Extra Credit

Extra credit will not be offered.

Handing in Work

All submissions must be typed, double-spaced, and use 12-point Times New Roman font with 1-inch margins. Non-compliant work will not be graded. Assignments should also include an APA-style cover page (except blogs).

Late Work

Students have an automatic 48-hour extension on assignments (excluding weekly discussions). Work submitted after that will receive a zero. No additional extensions will be granted.

Policy on Incompletes

An "Incomplete" is only available if 75% of coursework is finished and a valid excuse (e.g., medical, military) is provided. Falling behind is not a valid reason for an incomplete.

Acceptable Student Behavior

Behavior that disrupts the instructor's teaching or other students' learning will not be tolerated. Disruptive students may be asked to leave, and cases may be referred to university administration for further action.

Code of Student Conduct

All students must adhere to the Code of Student Conduct to avoid cheating and plagiarism.

  • Cheating includes unauthorized sharing of information or using another's work as your own.
  • Plagiarism involves using someone’s words or ideas without proper citation. This includes failing to quote or credit sources. APA citation guidelines must be followed.

The consequences for cheating or plagiarism range from a zero on the assignment to failing the course.
